Slower growth in Polish construction

In contrast to the notable expansion experienced in the Polish construction industry throughout 2015, the initial months of 2016 have seen an unsteady start making it difficult for the industry to deliver the anticipated annual target. The probability of reaching the record level of construction output delivered in 2011 is currently low and more likely to occur in 2017. However, factors such as the persistent recovery in the segments of industrial, warehouse and residential construction along with the magnitude of large-scale power and fast-road projects could contribute to a considerable growth potential in 2016 while still being below expectations. The most important segments in 2015 were civil engineering and non-residential construction. Residential construction ranked as the smallest market segment. The civil engineering sector is successful due to the road construction segment, which is currently at its highest peak and the railway construction sector, which has seen a fast increase but is still at an initial stage. A significant increase of 17 percent in building permits in non-residential projects took place in 2015. Development of industrial and warehouse buildings and agricultural buildings will play a big role in the future of the non-residential construction segment.
