Changes proposed for ASHRAE standards

The Standard for the Design of High Performance Green Buildings from ASHRAE, the International Code Council, the U.S. Green Building Council and the Illuminating Engineering Society, is undergoing changes regarding its purpose and scope. Nine proposed addenda to the standard have been published and are subject to public opinion, which can be expressed through the public review process provided by global society ASHRAE. All observations made by the users will be considered by the project committee, which will then respond to each comment unless it decides to submit a revised draft for another full public review. A new section of the purpose states that the standard must serve as a technical basis for building codes such as the 2018 International Green Construction Code (IgCC). The standard includes minimum requirements for the siting, design and construction of high performance green buildings in order to reduce various environmental impacts and to maintain acceptable indoor environments.
